There are over 350 miles of trails in and around Park City. I’ve lived in Park City most of my life but did not start exploring these trails until about 3 years ago. I never realized how much I was missing out on! Who knew the mountains I spent so much time snowboarding on during the winter could offer the same amount of fun during the summer months. Now that I have spend the past few summers getting to know these mountains in a whole new way I would like to share some of my favorite trails in and around Park City.

Spiro Trail

This is always a great go to trail when in Park City as it is very easy to access. It is 6.2 miles. Start at at Silver Star just outside of Park City Mountain Resort. This is a beautiful trail filled with meadows of wildflowers and forests of aspens. You also get great views of Park City. Make sure to reward yourself after the hike with lunch and a glass of wine at Silver Star Cafe!

Midmountain Trail

If you are new to hiking this trail may not be the best place to start. It twists and turns over the Wasatch Back from Deer Valley Resort to out past Canyons Resort. All in all it is about 20 miles long. I like to access the trail from the Silverlake area of Deer Valley though you can access it from several points at Park City Mountain Resort including the Spiro Trail. Pack a lunch and stop anywhere along the way to take in some amazing views.

Park City Town Loop

This trail is about 7 miles long and weaves through Park City Mountain Resort. I personally love this trail because you stay close to town but feel miles away from everything. Over all this is a pretty easy hike expect for the Sweeny Switchbacks at the beginning of the trail that are quite steep. To bypass the switchbacks use the Town Lift to easy get to the top. Start your hike early and finish around lunch time to enjoy some midday nourishment. My go to is No Name for a well deserved burger and beer on the deck!

I am lucky enough to have hundreds of miles of trails in my back yard that keep my busy all summer long. Let us help you feel like a local and find the perfect place to stay in Park City where you are able to enjoy not only the trails but everything the area has to offer!

Something “epic” took place last week that has Park City locals as well as frequent visitors to Park City excited. Last week Canyons Resort announced that Vail Resorts will take over all operations of the resort. Last Wednesday Vail Resorts came to an agreement with current owner Talisker Corporation to lease the resort therefore bringing one of the ski industry’s top brands to Park City. Canyons will be the only resort in Utah managed by Vail Resorts.

Vail Resorts is very well known in the ski community as they are currently responsible for some of the country’s most popular ski resorts. Vail is also well known for selling its prized Epic Pass which allows pass holders to ski/snowboard at all of their resorts. This means that season passes purchased at Canyons Resort can also be used at several Colorado resorts including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone, as well as resorts in Tahoe including Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood. For under $700 all of these resorts can act as your personal playground next winter!

Canyons Resort offers 4,000 skiable acres, easy access to the town of Park City, and recently went thought $75 million in renovations and improvements. This upcoming 2013/14 ski season is sure to be one of the best in Canyons history and we are excited to see what the future holds for this resort as well as Park City as a whole. We offer several homes in great proximity to Canyons Resort that would offer the perfect place for you to stay and experience the new resort. Our Canyons Mansion offers true ski-in/ski-out access and our Bear Hollow Home is just a mile from Canyons Resort. Now is the time to start planning your ski vacation to make sure you secure the best property possible that meets all of your group’s needs. Now is also the best time to purchase a season pass if you decide to make Park City a reoccurring destination this winter. Once you purchase your pass contact our destination specialists to plan your stays next winter.

It may only be June but the snow will start to fly before we know it. We are looking forward to the new Canyons Resort under Vail Resorts management and all it will bring to our mountain town!

It is Friday and with the weekend on the horizon it’s time to start planning your weekend adventures. Park City may be a small mountain town but it sure is jam packed with bars, clubs, and other establishments to meet anyone’s social cravings. Come with me as I plan my weekend to include some of the hot spots in this chilly town.

Being a Friday and feeling a little warn out from the work week I try to keep this first weekend night more on the mellow side. And considering the amount of snow we are expecting over the night I want to make sure I am bright eyed and pushy tailed early tomorrow morning for what will hopefully be an epic powder day. So here are a few great places for a quite(er) night out on the town.

Blind Dog: You may already know Blind Dog for their amazing food but did you also know they have a fun little bar? Being located off Main Street keeps Blind Dog a little less known and therefore a favorite with the locals. The large, comfortable bar offers plenty of seating, multiple TV’s for watching your game, and several tables that can be used to enjoy a few apps and cocktails with friends. Many nights they offer live acoustic music from local musicians. The bartenders are friendly and offer great conversation. Try the Kir Royal, it’s my personal favorite!

Cisero’s (Upstairs bar): The Good Times Bar at Cisero’s has been a hot spot in town for as long as I can remember. It is a great place to dance, drink, and get loose., but this season Cisero’s has opened a new bar upstairs offering a much more relaxed atmosphere. The bar is located on street level with a full window wall allowing patrons to watch the snow fall over Main Street. Go ahead and sip on a glass of Chianti while snacking on some calamari.

Now for Saturday night I may want to go somewhere with a little more noise and possibly even a little more dancing. Hopefully I will be celebrating a fantastic day on the mountain and ready to have some fun! Here are a few places I may want to check out.

Park City Live: Snoop Dog, Macklemore, and Kesha; these are just a few big names that have played here. And this was just this year during the Sundance Film Festival! Park City Live offers a big city club feel in our otherwise low key town. Make sure to put on your dancing shoes and classiest party attire for the upscale event. This place is sure to offer a wildly good night!

No Name Saloon: Well this place is a no brainer. It is very well known in Park City and a must visit. The place is packed, the music is loud, the beer is flowing, and the burgers are amazing. I enjoy going here because I can meet people from all over the world while seeing familiar faces at the same time as it is a favorite for both visitors and locals. Get ready to have a fun night in true Park City style!

Keep an eye on my Google Plus page over the weekend to see photos of my adventures this weekend. TGIF!

Family Fun in Park City

As the town begins to fill up with visitors for the President’s holiday weekend one thing is easy to see. There are children everywhere! This weekend in February has always been a very popular weekend for families to visit Park City. The kids and parents both have an extra day or two off of school or work so it is the perfect time to take a long weekend trip to the slopes. While taking a ski vacation with the whole family can be a fun way to bond it can also be stressful making sure everyone is having a good time. Sometimes the little ones can’t ski every day so we must find other ways to keep them having a good time. Here are a few suggestions on ways to have fun with the little ones in Park City when not on the mountain.

Gorgoza Tubing Park

Bring the family to Gorgoza Tubing Park and enjoy the “Greatest Snow on Earth” without skis or snowboards. Sit back on your tube and relax as the tow rope lift helps you up to the top of the hill. Then choose one of the seven lighted tubing lanes, put your feet up, and let the fun begin! The littlest tubers will have a blast on the three beginner lanes and the bigger family members can enjoy the thrill of the four advanced lanes. Buy a ticket for one ride, two hours, or four hours. Contact one of our guest service agents for more information on tubing in Park City!

Monkey Mountain

Looking to have some fun indoors? Make sure to check out Monkey Mountain, Utah’s largest indoor supervised play land. The kids can have the freedom to run around and enjoy 4,000 sq. feet of interactive play features, a toddler soft play zone, and a massive 4-tier tree house play structure. Want to hit the Park City outlet mall for some shopping for a few hours? Drop off the kiddos to be watched by state licensed care providers and have a blast while you take a little time for yourself!

Color Me Mine

Have little artists that feel the need to paint and draw on everything? Channel their creativity at Color Me Mine! This pottery studio lets you come in, pick your piece of pottery or sculpture, then get paintin’! Your little ones will have a wonderful time painting their pieces which will make great gifts for family members back home. If you’re hunger don’t worry because light food and refreshments are available.

At last it is here! The festival you have been waiting for all year – the Sundance Film Festival. Now that you have arrived, I’m sure you realize how many opportunities you have to fill your day with new and exciting activities. Here are a couple of things that you can look forward to while spending your time in Park City, Utah during Sundance.

Skiing/Snowboarding

With movies on the brain, most attendees flock to the crowded theaters and forget about the incredible slopes in their backyard. Park City not only hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics but it is also constantly recognized with awards for the terrain. Escape the masses and take the time to have this perfect powder paradise all to yourself.

Java Cow

Main Street is well known for its celebrity sightings during Sundance. Grab a cup of coffee at Java Cow and warm yourself up while keeping an eye out for the stars. It is known to be one of the major social hubs for Sundance and has served big names like Michelle Pfeiffer, Bill Murray, Seth Rogan, Sylvester Stallone, and Kim Kardashian. Keep in mind that there are also screenwriters and producers sitting around, if you know who you’re looking for.

The Sundance Sponsors Buildings and Tents

One of the awesome festival perks is the amount of free stuff you can score. Head over the one of the sponsor’s buildings to take advantage of your pass as these are often open to the public. Rest your head a bit in the heat, drink some free hot cocoa or coffee, and in some cases, grab your free lunch before heading back out into the Sundance crowds.

Midnight Movies

Known as some of the most provocative movies of Sundance, Midnight Movies are often focused on comedy and horror that really push the limits. Many cult classics come out of this section of Sundance and it is definitely worth a visit. Make sure to get your tickets early to avoid the Wait List.

Park City Live

Park City Live is known for bringing some of the biggest names in music to perform at the Sundance Film Festival. After parties, birthday parties, and concerts are all held here as well. This is a great place to see and be seen. Get your tickets early because these parties sell out quickly.

This loaded list is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the beautiful beast of a festival known as Sundance. In the end, no matter what you choose to do you’re sure you have a blast in Park City, Utah.

Celebrities are known for pulling together to raise money to benefit a wide variety of causes. One such cause is known as the Celebrity Skifest, which is held in Deer Valley this year. Celebrities such as those seen in movies, television, and the famous athletes who are Olympians can be seen competing in this skiing competition each year.

This year’s Skifest will be held in Deer Valley Utah, which is one of the most famous ski resorts in America. Male and female stars will all unite in December to raise money for the Waterkeeper Alliance organization. This organization keeps the waters of America clean from pollution, and gives celebrity’s a chance to win a highly coveted title.

After 20 plus years this Skifest has become quite the sensation and is one fund raising event that promises fun and excitement for all. In addition to competing against one another, celebrity’s also bid against each other in auctions. There are two types of charitable auctions held on certain days during the Skifest. A silent and live auction will be held to increase the funds raised for this charitable event.

There are tons of charitable events but few hold as much promise for fun as the Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest. Everyone loves to visit Utah to ski Deer Valley, but few have the chance to do so competitively, or for such a good cause. Pollution of our water is a serious issue, and was determined to be worthy of the development of an organization to ensure our waters are kept pollution free.

Robert Kennedy Jr. felt that as Americans we all have the right to clean water and developed the WaterKeeper Alliance. Though he had big dreams for this organization, one can not help but wonder if he knew just how great the success of this organization would be. Without the Waterkeeper Alliance big corporations could just about freely deposit toxic waste into our rivers, streams, and oceans without much regard to penalty.

The impact and good of this organization is obviously large enough to warrant the aid of celebrity visits to Deer Valley each year to compete in skiing competitions. Their fun weekend helps them to earn money for the cause of keeping American waterways free from pollution and toxins. While spectators are kept to a bare minimum for security reasons, the event is recorded by CBS and broadcasted for the viewing pleasure of those unable to make it to the event in person.

The next time you take a bath or shower, be proud of all the stars who take the time to ensure our water is clean and safe for use. Keep your ears peeled for designated viewing times and have some popcorn ready to enjoy a spectacular show as your favorite stars go toe to toe trying to win. If enticed by the beauty of Deer Valley, be sure to make reservations to visit soon.

Utah has always been a great place to have fun during the winter months; the beautiful scenery and snow have attracted thousands of people every year. Along with offering some of the most famous ski slopes in America, Utah has a lot more to offer its winter visitors. Park City is one of the most popular places to find holiday cheer and the spirit of winter.

Being known as one of the best places to ski and enjoy other numerous winter snow sports, Park City is also known for its spectacular events. During each winter, Park City events attract more people than just about any other event held in popular winter vacation destinations. That’s because when Park City plays host to an event it is sure to be a splendid affair.

One such event is known as the Park City Holiday Bazaar. This event has a silly tone that invites children of all ages to enjoy a fun and silly time while shopping for holiday gifts. At this event Park City is referred to as Park Silly and holiday fun runs rampant during the entire bazaar. Vendors offering a wide variety of items from jewelry, handmade crafts, clothing, holiday décor, and much more will be set up and offering phenomenal gift ideas at affordable prices.

Out of all of the holiday events in Park City, the bazaar is a favorite among visitors and locals alike. A silly Santa and many of his silly elves are available for pictures and to spread holiday magic and cheer to all. Combined with the silly holiday decorations, kids’ activities and festive holiday music, this event promises to bring enlightenment to holiday shopping and create a silly atmosphere that everyone enjoys.

This year’s silly holiday bazaar will be open for everyone to enjoy on December 01-02 from 10am – 5pm. While all of the events in Park City are fun, few offer the excitement of shopping for holiday gifts in such a lively atmosphere filled with holiday silliness found only at the bazaar. Shopping for holiday gifts can become a dreaded task, which is why so many people anxiously await this fun filled extravaganza to find gifts for all of their loved ones.

Due to having 100 vendors, finding gifts for even the hardest person to shop for is as easy as can be at the holiday bazaar. There you will find items that are one of a kind and sure to please even the pickiest person on your shopping list. There simply is no better way to shop for gifts this holiday season. When visiting Park City Utah during the first week in December, make sure to find the time to drop in on the Park Silly Holiday Bazaar and discover a whole new concept for getting that holiday shopping out of the way.

Visiting Park City Utah is a pleasure to be had all year long. Each season has something to offer visitors when it comes to the beauty of the landscaping. One particular season that has been noted for being a colorful time to visit is in the fall. October is actually one of the best months to visit. Not only are the colors phenomenal there are numerous exciting activities to enjoy as well.

One of the best ways to plan an October visit is to look at a Park City schedule to view all of the upcoming events that may be of interest. While October activities are fun and something to look forward to, there are a few events that stand out and are cherished by locals and visitors alike. One such activity is the Howl-O-Ween parade and the celebration of Halloween on Main Street all bundled into one eventful day.

This particular event is great for kids of all ages, both the two and four legged kinds. Pets, siblings, and their parents can all dress up in costumes and pose for a picture in front of the Egyptian Theatre or other scheduled location. This is something that both the locals and many visitors enjoy participating in. Afterwards both the pooches and their families will parade down historical Main Street.

The entirety of Main Street is closed off and the trick or treating fun begins around 3:00 pm. until 5:30 pm. Usually the month of October is a great month to catch a few special movies and shows that are not likely to be seen elsewhere such as this Oct. 5th The People v. The State of Illusion can be seen at the Utah Olympic Park Theater and the Superheroes of Stoke can be seen at the Jim Santy Auditorium from Oct. 5th thru the 7th.

The Superheroes of Stoke is a filmed collection of the absolute most amazing shots of freestyle skiing from across the globe. Considering Park City’s infinite love of skiing this 19 year collection of skiing is a must see for all ski enthusiasts. Luckily, on the 6th of Oct. the 50K & YES Trail Championship kicks off and the Annual Harvest Fest along with the Red Apple Galla is held so visitors and locals alike can really enjoy this particular weekend.

There are other festive activities in October such as the Autumns Classics Festival, the Dungeon Party, as well as several excellent shows and concerts at the Egyptian Theatre. It is easy to see why so many people enjoy visiting Park City during the month of October. Make it a point to come see for yourself the phenomenal color show the natural landscaping offers and enjoy some of the most anticipated activities of the year.

We recently visited Deer Valley over the Easter holiday and stayed at Arrowleaf condo’s, located at Empire Pass. This Penthouse 3 bedroom condo was amazing and ski-in/out to Deer Valley Resort right off Northside ski run. Several heated Jacuzzi’s, great common areas, and high-end quality vacation rental. But, the prices were very reasonable. The Penthouse we stayed in was Arrowleaf Unit 403 that we found on www.parkcityrentals.info. The management company, Park City Rental Properties also has full service concierge and helped us with all our vacation needs. I highly recommend them and the Arrowleaf condo’s for your next trip to Deer Valley Resort.
